The website is coming!

For years, and most recently yesterday, I have heard the same question, "Do you have a website?" Well now I can answer, "YES!" I have my domain name for my website.....now all I have to do is build it!!!! I'm teaching myself how to build a website. It's so simple, well if you like all the coding, html, css and all the other technical stuff which I do! I just love learning about new programs and new ways to expand my business. So stay tuned.....

I attended an amazing woman's empowerment conference a couple of weekends ago and left there feeling super motivated. One of the sessions I went to was about writing out a Blueprint for success in multiple areas of your life. The keynote speech was given by an exuberant motivational speaker. She told the crowd to focus on your positive aspects of yourself and just DO YOU!

The whole time I was at the conference I had dozens of ideas for my business brewing in my head that weren't just going to stay in my head but I would now write them all down AND see them into fruition. I realized that in most cases the only thing holding me back from acheiving greatness was well, myself. So I'm pushing myself out of the way and heading straight towards my success!

Look forward to some updates about how I'm going to be expanding my business and taking Ama Designs to a whole new level!

Feast Your Eyes on This invitation

I know when you look at the date you're probably wondering why I am posting this from two years ago. Well I'm posting this in preparation for the other items I'm creating for this client. Tianna Feaster, a personal chef, has been my client for about two years now and I've done a myriad of items for her which include a bio, business cards and labels . She is currently a blogger on Essence.com http://blogs.essence.com/tiannastastytips/ . She was also featured in an April 2008 Essence magazine article entitled, Make Extra Cash Fast, and is featured in a cooking segment on WUSA Channel 9 in DC. Check out her website www.feastyoureyesonthis.net. So look out for this sister, she's doing big things in 2010! And look out for the new items I'm designing for her....will post them soon!

Eid Bowl & Skate

So I haven't posted anything in a while so this is long overdue. This is one of the most recent flyer that I designed for a local Eid ul-Adha (Muslim Celebration of Sacrifice) event.

The event was a fun family activity so I wanted the flyer to have a very fun look to it that included some of the things that you would see if you attended the event.

Women's Backyard Business Expo

This summer a client asked me to design a flier for a women's business expo that she was going to have in her back yard. She wanted the flier to have a feminine feel to it that showed women in business.

I was excited about this because I got to incorporate a feminine font with a more traditional font. I decided to use a silhouette of a business women standing on the grass ready to get down to her work at hand (whatever it may be).

Here's one of my latest designs for a fundraising Iftar for a local women's shelter. I did many of the promotional items for the event which included two flyers, a banner and this postcard.

Elements of the postcard design were used in many emails for the event and is in a recent article on MANA's (Muslim Alliance in North America) website and on the event organizer's website.

At least 20 times a year I hear the following question, "Do you have a website?" And I always answer, "Not yet......but I'm working on it." And in truth I am working on it. But in the mean time I wanted to have an online presence that my clients (current and prospective) could go to and view some of my work. So here it is in the form of a blog.

I never thought that I would ever be a blogger and for a while I didn't even know what the word meant. It was just a cool catch phrase, "check out my blog". But now I finally have one and I can make the same statement. So please check out my blog and my design work and feel free to leave positive comments :) Thanks and have a creative day!!!!
